Free account & key validation

    I’ve implemented offline key validation and it works fine as soon as I’ve validated my licence during the 30 days of test drive.

    Now, my free account is over and when I install my application in virtual machine (Virtual Box), I can’t activate my key anymore.

    When I come back to the site ((./Product/Detail/product_id)) and I try to download the licence file with a valid activated machine code, I’ve got this error message:

    An error occurred. Could activate the specified machine code. Please check if the limit of activated machines was achieved. Or, maybe the key is blocked?

    The key is not blocked and I haven’t reach the machine limit I’ve set up for this product. I also have only one product.

    I’d like to know if, when I’m back to the free subscription, my users can still validate their licence.

    @probel,

    The reason you get this error is because a Standard subscription (or old Premium) is required to access the Web API. That is, once the subscription expires, no more API calls can be made. The activation file button calls the Web API, which is why this error occurs.

    However, even when you don’t have any subscription, all the license keys that you’ve generated during the subscription will be kept.

    Possible solution: If you want to allow your users to activate their licenses even after that the subscription has expired, you could use something like offline key validation, where the activation occur only once and later the activation file is used. In this case, even after that your subscription has expired, your users will still be able to use your application (assuming they have the activation file).
